I've been talking with a few small contractors lately and noticed that many of them handle their own takeoffs and pricing, even when they're already running projects. It made me wonder how common it actually is for builders to get outside help with estimating, especially when bid timelines get tight.

One contractor mentioned they sometimes outsource cost estimating services during peak periods just to keep up with tender opportunities, but said it took time to find someone reliable who understood their scope and local pricing. I can see how consistency and accuracy would be a concern if estimating isn't done in-house.
