I'm in a bit of a panic right now and honestly I don't know who else to ask because my usual mechanic is on holiday and I'm stuck with a 488 that refuses to start. The car was absolutely fine yesterday, I took it for a nice drive in the evening, parked it in the garage, and this morning it's completely dead. No lights on the dash, nothing. I tried the trickle charger I have but it's not even registering any response, which makes me think the battery has completely given up after that heat we've been having. I've always babied this car and kept it in the AC garage but clearly that wasn't enough because this is the second battery in three years and I'm getting pretty frustrated. My main concern is finding somewhere that actually understands what they're doing with a Ferrari because I've heard absolute horror stories about people taking their Italian cars to general garages and ending up with fried ECUs or the battery management system throwing errors that cost a fortune to fix. The car sits quite low and I know the battery is in a tricky spot in the front trunk area, so I really don't want some inexperienced guy messing around and breaking clips or damaging the carbon fiber trim. I've been calling around Industrial Area 10 because that's where I work and it would be convenient to just get it sorted during my lunch break, but nobody seems confident when I mention it's a Ferrari. One place told me they can do it but they didn't even know these cars need a specific AGM battery with the right CCA rating, so I hung up straight away. I'm looking for something like premium Ferrari battery replacement in Industrial Area 10 because I want a specialist who has worked on these cars before and knows exactly which battery to use and how to code it properly. I called the dealership in Dubai and they quoted me a ridiculous amount and said I'd have to wait three days, which just isn't going to work for me. There has to be a good independent shop in Sharjah that can handle a Ferrari, these cars aren't that uncommon around here. I've seen plenty of them on the roads so someone must be maintaining them. I need someone who has the right diagnostic tools and can register the new battery with the car's system so it doesn't overcharge or undercharge. I've read online that if you don't code it properly, the car's computer will still think the old battery is in there and adjust the charging rate accordingly, which can kill the new battery within months. I just can't afford to go through this again, batteries are expensive enough without having to replace them twice as often as necessary. I'm also curious about whether I should go with the genuine Ferrari battery or if there's an aftermarket option that's just as good but cheaper. I've seen some people recommend certain brands but I'm always skeptical about putting anything non-genuine in a car like this. Anyway, if any of you guys have had a similar experience or know a good place in Industrial 10 that specializes in exotics, please let me know because I really need to get this sorted. I've got a track day planned next weekend and I can't miss it, I've been looking forward to this for months.
